Sometimes just the simple, everyday things about a family vacation can be even more memorable than the visits to museums, farms and other new places. This past week we took walks together by the small lake near Steve's aunts house....
...snuggled with Daddy while hearing made-up Batman stories...
...learning new skills on the monkey bars...
...hanging outside with cousins, just playing in the yard...
....indoor play...
...and wrestling.
Our last day in Missouri was a lovely lazy one. I had read the kids the Iron Giant during the week we were there, so that Friday morning we lounged around the TV and watched the animated version (nope, doesn't even compare to the book). We had some Dairy Queen ice cream, ate dinner at the cousins house, and by then I wasn't feeling that great. So, while I sat on the couch and watched Oprah and Dr. Phil (something I haven't done since I was on bed rest before the twins were born), the kids went with Steve, his grandma, and aunt and watched fireworks outside of the Royals stadium.
They came back close to midnight, tired, but full of great memories. It was a nice feeling to be heading back home, but it's always sad to know we probably won't see them for another year.
