Curious George at Khol's Children's Museum

It's been over a year since we've visited the Khol's Children's Museum in Glenview. When I read about a Curious George exhibit there and told the kids about it, we knew we had to go back.

While we only stayed in the Curious George exhibit for about five minutes (for us it really wasn't that great), we stayed at the museum for almost two hours.

We usually don't visit children's museums, or really any indoor museums, all that much in the summer, since we try to be out when the weather is good most of the time. So, now that fall in here in full force, it's awakened our excitement over all things museum. In fact, I just called my mom and asked if she wants to go to the Field Museum next week, so I'll be writing about that soon.

Sometimes the kids go to museums and get really wrapped up in one area, and we don't see a lot of the rest of the museum. And then other days, like this one, they go crazy running around from section to section, just excited to be touching and seeing everything new. Here are some picture highlights:

This last picture shows the one area where we spent the most time that day. It was a sound machine that altered your voice to slow down or speed up a recorded message. The kids and Steve must have recorded dozens of messages to play back over and over again. Its was a really great day with the family.

hi again....

what a fun day -- the kids (and your hubs) look like they had a blast...

i read your comment over at OLM the other day and just wanted to let you know that i totally *hear* what you're saying about feeling like you have no time for yourself...and guilty for wanting it. I have REALLY been there...and i know what a frustrating place it can be.

hang in there...and if you ever want to talk about it...you know where to find me,

blessings,

mel

Mel, thanks so much for commiserating. It's so nice to hear from other moms who can understand how I feel. It's just hard to talk to other moms who send their kids to preschool and are talking about school a year from now, and I feel nothing in common with them.

Nikole, Thanks!

Denise, it really is a neat museum for kids about 9 and under. It's in Glenview, so it's only the north side.

That looks like a ton-of-fun day - I could use a few of those around here!

Chris - I also wanted to thank you for the book recommendation - I just started the first one and I love it so far! Thank you so much :)
